How to Care for a Wooden Boomerang
A wooden boomerang needs only a little care. After the last throw, wipe off the dirt and check the edges before packing it away. Keeping it dry and protecting its wings will help preserve its shape and decoration.
Clean gently. Let it dry.

Lift away grass and grit with a soft cloth. For a stubborn mark, lightly dampen the cloth with clean water and wipe just that spot. Dry it with another cloth.
Never soak or rinse the boomerang. Avoid alcohol, solvents, rough cleaning pads and household polish, which may damage the finish.
If the boomerang lands in wet grass, wipe it promptly and let it dry indoors with good airflow. Keep it away from radiators and hair dryers. Wait until it’s completely dry before throwing or packing it.
Leave the finish alone

Ask us before sanding a scuff or adding oil, wax, paint or varnish. These changes can affect the finish or weight distribution. Don’t bend a warped wing back or press a damp boomerang flat under books.
Know when to stop throwing

Put the boomerang aside if you notice:
- Cracks, splinters, sharp damaged edges or missing pieces.
- Plywood layers lifting or separating.
- A twisted wing or another change in shape.
After a hard impact, stop if you’re unsure about the damage. Don’t risk another throw or assume tape or a quick glue repair makes it safe.
Contact us before attempting a repair. Include the model, what happened and photos of both faces and the damaged edge. Photos may not reveal the full damage.
For your next outing, follow our throwing instructions and choose a large, clear grass area.
